Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of StemX at stemx.app. By creating an account or uploading a file, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Who you are contracting with

StemX is provided by Shruti Jadhav, an individual trading as StemX, of 1st A Cross Rd, Nagavarapalya, C V Raman Nagar, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560093, India. You can reach us at support@stemx.app.

Payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd as our Merchant of Record. When you buy a paid plan, Paddle is the seller of record: Paddle issues your invoice, collects any applicable tax, and its own buyer terms apply to that transaction alongside these terms.

What the service does

StemX separates an audio file you upload into two parts: a vocal track and an instrumental track. It does not produce drums, bass or other individual instrument stems — the models we are licensed to run commercially only separate those two. We describe why in our post on the subject.

Separation quality varies with the recording. We publish measured figures from our own benchmark rather than claims — see the numbers and the method — but we do not guarantee any particular result for any particular file.

Your files, and what we may do with them

You keep all rights to the audio you upload and to the stems we return. We claim no ownership of either.

We use your audio for one purpose: to run the separation you asked for and to deliver the result to you. We do not use your audio to train models. The models we run are third-party pretrained weights; nothing you upload is added to them.

Files are deleted automatically on a schedule, not on request-by-request goodwill. Previews are kept one hour for anonymous visitors and 24 hours once you are signed in. Completed full separations are kept 3 days on Free, 7 days on Pro and 30 days on Scale, measured from when the job finished. After that they are removed and cannot be recovered. Download what you need before the window closes.

You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload. Do not upload audio you do not own or have permission to process.

Accounts and acceptable use

You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. One person or organisation per account.

You may not:

• circumvent the usage limits on your plan, including by creating multiple accounts to obtain more free previews;
• resell access to the service as if it were your own, other than through the documented API on a paid plan;
• upload content that is unlawful where you are or where we operate;
• attempt to disrupt the service, probe it for vulnerabilities without our written permission, or access other customers' data.

Plans, limits and changes

Each plan includes a monthly allowance of audio minutes, which resets at the start of each calendar month (UTC). Free previews are capped daily. Current allowances are shown on the pricing page and in your account.

We may change prices or plan contents. If a change affects a plan you are already paying for, it takes effect at your next renewal, not mid-period, and we will tell you by email before it does.

Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel at any time; your plan then runs to the end of the period you have paid for and does not renew. Refunds are covered by our refund policy.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. Where the breach is not deliberate we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix it.

Availability and liability

We work to keep StemX available but do not promise uninterrupted service. It is provided “as is”, without warranties beyond those the law requires and which cannot be excluded.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of audio you did not download before its retention window closed — that schedule is published above and in the product.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud, or any statutory rights you have as a consumer.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and its courts have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of protections you have under the law of the country you live in.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top always shows the current version. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you by email before it takes effect.
