How to make a karaoke version

  1. 1

    Choose the song

Pick the track you want to sing. MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, OGG, AAC or AIFF work, up to 10 minutes, with no account for the preview.

  2. 2

    Hear the backing track

The preview opens with the vocals muted, so the first 60 seconds play as the band without the singer.

  3. 3

    Process the full song

Sign in and split the whole track. Mute the vocal stem in the mixer, or download every stem except the vocals and mix them in your own software.

  4. 4

    Add the lyrics

Transcribe the vocals into timed lyrics, free, and follow them line by line while you sing.

What to expect from the karaoke version

Backing vocals leave with the lead, so the karaoke version has no harmonies. To sing over the original harmonies, split the vocals into lead and backing after the full split and mute only the lead.

Faint traces of the voice can remain, mostly reverb tails and sharp consonants such as "s" and "t". Under a live singer they are hard to hear; on headphones in a quiet room you may notice them.

Lyrics are transcribed by AI from the vocal stem and may contain mistakes, most often on fast rap, heavy effects or words sung under the band. Read them through before you perform.

The song keeps its original key and tempo. Check both with the BPM and key finders if you plan to play along or rehearse with a band.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a karaoke version of a song?

Upload the song above. The preview opens with the vocals muted and plays the first 60 seconds; sign in to process the whole song.

Is it free?

The 60-second preview is free with no account. Full songs use minutes from your plan: the Free plan includes 30 minutes a month.

Does it keep the backing vocals?

It removes vocals as a whole, so backing vocals are usually removed along with the lead. To keep them, split the vocals into lead and backing after a full split, then mute only the lead.

Which files can I upload?

MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, OGG, AAC and AIFF files, up to 10 minutes and 120 MB each.

Can I get the lyrics too?

Yes. After a full split, transcribe the vocals into timed lyrics for free. They are written by AI from the vocal stem, so check them for mistakes.

Can I play the karaoke version in public or post it online?

The tool makes the track; it does not license the song. Public performances and videos need the rights that apply to the original song where you perform or post.
